Sexavied: A Designer’s Real-World Type Audit

Performance Across Real Design Contexts

Practical Designer Notes You’ll Actually Use

  1. Test in black and white first—no color crutches. Sexavied’s strength is in structure, not saturation.
  2. Check small-size readability early: set a tagline at 14px on mobile mockups. Adjust tracking if letters collapse visually.
  3. Try it on real mockups—not just screens. Print a label, hold a poster at arm’s length, place a mug on your desk. Type lives in space, not pixels.
  4. Compare uppercase vs. lowercase usage. Its caps have presence, but the lowercase has more nuance—don’t default to all-caps unless it serves a deliberate visual pause.
  5. Review spacing carefully. Default kerning is solid, but tighten ‘To’, ‘Va’, and ‘We’ pairs in headlines. Loosen ‘LL’ and ‘TT’ if they feel cramped.
  6. Test font pairing rigorously: beside a warm serif font (like Literata), a neutral sans serif font (like Lato), a delicate script font (not decorative—think a refined single-weight script), and even a grounded handwritten font. Sexavied holds its own but benefits from contrast—not competition.
  7. Confirm commercial licensing before any client or business use. As a premium font, its license covers digital products, printable design, and merch—but verify redistribution rights if bundling into Canva templates or Cricut design bundles.
